If you're not from this city, how did you end up here?

I was born in Sydney, grew up in Tamworth, lived in South East QLD, then to the Mid North Coast of NSW. Newcastle combines the best of each of those places - city, beach and country - so it made perfect sense to move here.

What are your passions outside of work?

There are Internet meme's about men in their thirties basing their entire personality on one of a few select hobbies - lawns, cars, BBQ or golf. In an effort not to be too basic I actually base my entire personality on two of those, being smoked meats, and a love of anything related to cars and motorsports.

    Road trip or plane trip?

Road trip. I didn't fly on a plane until I was an adult. Growing up in the bush we drove everywhere so that is something I am used to. Once I did start flying everywhere I realised that whilst it is convenient, you miss the opportunity to appreciate the interesting things along the way. I'm all about the journey.

What's the best advice you can give?

If you need to replace it, upgrade it. If you're going to the effort, cost and inconvenience of doing something then you might as well make it worth your while and put something better in place. Whilst this can relate to things in your personal life, it can also be applied to business, especially IT systems which are becoming exponentially better by the day.
