The Place Charlestown Community Centre is a not-for-profit social enterprise dedicated to connecting and supporting its local community. The organisation delivers a wide range of community programs designed to foster inclusion, development and social connection, while also operating a commercial venue that supports the sustainability of its services.
As both a community hub and a business, The Place Charlestown relies on secure IT systems to support day-to-day operations across service delivery, venue management and program innovation.
We sat down with Cristelle Govender, Centre Manager at The Place Charlestown, to celebrate our decade-long IT partnership. Cristelle oversees both sides of the organisation: community development and business operations.
Simply fill out the details below and we will be in touch via email to organise a time to scope our your IT requirements.
“For us, it was about focusing on the work that we do and knowing that the IT is taken care of in the background. Our long-term relationship with Myrtec really speaks to the importance of building that understanding over time.”
The Place Charlestown engaged Myrtec as their FLEX Managed IT partner. Myrtec takes full responsibility for their IT environment and helps The Place design and execute their long-term IT strategy.
By entrusting Myrtec with their IT systems, The Place gained confidence that the technical foundations of the organisation were being proactively managed, allowing staff to focus on their core work within the community.
This partnership extended beyond day-to-day IT support. The Place accessed Myrtec’s Technology Advisory service to facilitate The Place Based Abilities Program, an initiative designed to support neurodivergent young people by creating safe spaces for social interaction and capacity building.
As part of this program, young participants co-designed an accessibility auditing app, used to assess how accessible retail, commercial and community spaces are from their perspective.
Myrtec’s Technology Advisors worked closely with the team to develop and support the rollout of this app, translating the young people’s ideas into a functional digital tool.
This partnership demonstrates how the right IT partner can remove operational burden while actively contributing to meaningful social outcomes.
