Case Study

Background

Macular Disease Foundation Australia (MDFA), established in 2001, is dedicated to supporting individuals affected by macular disease. With up to 1.9 million Australians impacted, MDFA plays a crucial role in raising awareness and providing care.

Challenges

MDFA was preparing to launch their new Eye Connect service and needed a modern CRM system to support it. However, the organisation lacked internal capacity and expertise to manage the project, and the timeline was tight. Recruiting a part-time project manager posed risks around onboarding and technical expertise, and the uncertainty was a major concern. MDFA needed a trusted partner who could provide flexible, expert support to ensure that Eye Connect was launched on time.

Solution

During a regular customer catchup, Myrtec became aware of this need and shared details about their Technology Advisory service. This service would allow MDFA to access project management expertise on a part-time basis, tailored to their needs. Myrtec supported MDFA from vendor selection through to solution design, data migration, and final sign-off. Their deep understanding of MDFA’s IT environment, as well as their goals and timeline ensured the CRM implementation was both cost-effective and successful.

“Myrtec knew us, they knew what we needed to achieve, and they were on board with our deadline. We achieved our goals in a cost-effective way, and the project came in on time and on budget.”

Experience

Myrtec’s involvement from the outset provided MDFA with confidence and clarity. Their Myrtec project manager worked closely with MDFA, offering expert guidance and hands-on support throughout the project. The partnership was marked by a focus on fit-for-purpose solutions, cost-effectiveness, and a genuine commitment to MDFA’s mission. Myrtec’s approach was never product-led; instead, they prioritised MDFA’s needs and impact.

Results

The CRM project was delivered on time and on budget, enabling the successful launch of the Eye Connect service. MDFA’s team, composed of eye health professionals, marketers, and researchers, could stay focused on their mission without being burdened by technology decisions. With Myrtec as a trusted partner, MDFA is now positioned to expand its services and reach more people affected by macular disease.

Summary

MDFA’s collaboration with Myrtec demonstrates the power of strategic technology advisory in driving mission-critical outcomes. By providing flexible, expert support and prioritising client needs, Myrtec has become an indispensable partner in MDFA’s journey to improve lives across Australia.

“With Myrtec, I never feel a hard sell. They always have our needs at the forefront, which means we can focus on making an impact in the macular disease community.”
