Case Study

Background

HEAL Urgent Care, led by CEO and Medical Director Tim Stewart, is on a mission to revolutionise how urgent medical care is delivered in Australia. The goal is to provide a better alternative for non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries, reducing the need for emergency department visits.

HEAL Urgent Care operates two clinics in the Hunter region, offering a significantly shorter average length of stay of 90 minutes compared to the local emergency departments’ six hours. The clinics aim is to give the community excellent quality care both  efficiently and effectively.

Challenges

Operating in the healthcare industry involves managing multiple IT systems simultaneously, which can be complex. HEAL Urgent Care needed a solution to ensure these systems run efficiently, optimise security and data safety, and make the most of the Google Workspace platform.

Solution

HEAL Urgent Care partnered with Myrtec to address these challenges. Myrtec’s role included:

  • Proactive management and maintenance of all IT systems under Myrtec Managed IT Services Agreement (FLEX).
  • Simplifying systems to make operations more efficient.
  • Optimising security and data safety, crucial for handling medical records.
  • Enhancing the use of Google Workspace and identifying additional tools to augment the experience.

“Myrtec’s support has been invaluable. They promised us that it would be business as usual, and after two months, we haven’t noticed any real change other than for the benefit of the business. Their services help things run smoothly and identify areas for improvement, making our operations more efficient and effective.”

Experience

Tim says the transition to Myrtec was a seamless experience for HEAL because:

  • Personable Interaction: Myrtec’s team was easy to communicate with.
  • Willingness to Help: Myrtec was committed to helping HEAL Urgent Care achieve their goals and desired outcomes.
  • Ease of Transition: The transition was quick, easy, and did not involve significant capital expense.

Results

Myrtec’s involvement led to several positive outcomes:

  • The transition to Myrtec was seamless, with no disruptions to business operations.
  • HEAL Urgent Care is able to utilise their in-house resources more effectively, reducing reliance on external service providers.
  • Myrtec provides coaching and training sessions, empowering the team to handle problems independently if they wish to do so.

Summary

HEAL Urgent Care is confident in its model to provide emergency care in the community and is looking forward to scaling its operations nationally. Their partnership with Myrtec has been instrumental in ensuring smooth business operations and identifying areas for improvement.

“The thing I like most about Myrtec is that they don’t just answer the question and fix the problem. They help guide the team to fix the problem. Often, there’ll be a coaching session or a training session involved, which is recorded and that information can then be passed on to other team members. If that problem occurs again, we can fix it in-house and we’re not having to constantly rely on Myrtec to fix every little glitch in the system.”
