New Security & Compliance Add-ons for Microsoft 365 Business Premium

Microsoft has just introduced three new add-ons for Microsoft 365 Business Premium, designed to help businesses strengthen their security and compliance posture without the enterprise price tag. 

 

These add-ons are built to help organisations improve their security, fulfill compliance requirements, and manage risk, all while continuing to operate within the familiar Microsoft 365 environment. 

 

  1. Microsoft Defender Suite for Business Premium Add-On – $10US/user/month 

This suite provides end-to-end protection against identity threats, device risks, email phishing, and risky cloud apps. Previously, these tools were only available for large enterprises. It includes: 

  • Microsoft Entra ID P2: Advanced identity protection and governance with real-time risk-based conditional access. 
  • Microsoft Defender for Identity: Deep visibility into identity infrastructure with posture recommendations and threat detection. 

 

2. Microsoft Purview Suite for Business Premium Add-On – $10US/user/month 

This suite focus on helping organisations meet compliance and data protection requirements. It includes: 

  • Data Loss Prevention (DLP) across Microsoft 365 apps. 
  • Information Protection for classifying and encrypting sensitive data. 
  • Audit and eDiscovery tools for regulatory and legal readiness. 

 

3. Microsoft Entra Suite for Business Premium Add-On – $10US/user/month 

This suite streamlines identity governance and access management. It includes: 

  • Automated onboarding and access workflows. 
  • Lifecycle management for user identities. 
  • Enhanced reporting and alerts for suspicious activity.

  • Licensing: Each of the above Add-Ons require a minimum of 25 users, and supports up to 300 users per tenant 
  • Compatibility: Defender add-ons require full-suite upgrades, mixed licensing is not supported
