Connect Android to SBS/Exchange

Use the following guide to connect your Android device to your Office 365 account. This guide assumes Android v4.x.x or above but will be similar for older versions.

Additionally, there are settings in this guide which your IT support will need to provide such as the server address and port.

You will also need to know your domain, username and password for your account. See below this guide for steps to retrieve these settings from your work computer.

Adding email account to Android device

  1. Open SETTINGS

  2. Scroll down to the Accounts section and click on ADD ACCOUNT

  3. Click on CORPORATE (or EXCHANGE)

  4. The new window will ask for the following settings. Enter as indicated:
    Email: [Your full email address]
    Password: [Your network/work computer password]

  5. Click on MANUAL SETUP

  6. Click on EXCHANGE.

  7. The next screen will ask for the following settings. Enter as indicated:
    Username: [Your network/work computer username]
    Password: [Your network/work computer password]
    Server: [Ask your IT support for this]
    Port: 443
    Security type: SSL/TLS

  8. Click NEXT

  9. The system may take a minute or two depending on your internet connection to verify your details. If you get a message saying it was unable to verify your details go back and re-check all your settings and re-enter your password remembering passwords are case sensitive.

  10. After your account is verified you may see a message about Remote Security Administration - click OK

  11. The next screen gives you the ability to toggle on/off various services including: mail, contacts, calendars and related connection settings - adjust as needed.

  12. Click NEXT

  13. You will then get a confirmation message and the option to give the account a name (optional)

  14. Click NEXT

  15. You may receive a device security/administrator message - click ACTIVATE (or OK)

  16. Close Settings

Your email account should now be connected depending on what services you enabled in step 11. Note it can take up to 30mins or more for your account to sync depending on your internet connection speed.

Retrieving your domain, username and password

When you log in to your work computer, your domain and username will be listed on the logon screen (after you press CTRL ALT DEL) in the following format: Domain\Username. If you cannot find it use the steps below.


  1. Right click on the Computer icon on the desktop and click PROPERTIES

    1. Alternatively, right click on Computer in the Start Menu and click PROPERTIES

  2. On the new screen that opens, there is a section called Computer name, Domain and Workgroup Settings.

  3. Your domain is listed in this section


  1. Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt

    1. Alternatively, type cmd.exe in the Start menu search box and hit enter

  2. This will open the command prompt window (black window)

  3. Type: echo %username%

  4. Hit enter

  5. Your username will be displayed


  1. This is the same password you use to log into your work computer each day
